The Lazy Shack, Hythe CT21 6HG
The Lazy Shack is right on the beach at Hythe – it’s best to take the last right at the bottom of Range Road, then the first left to reach the free car park at the rear of the ‘shack’.
If you eat indoors there’s waitress service but if it’s warm enough there’re plenty of benches on the beach where you pay in advance and order on a take-away basis. Either way the food from the seafood-heavy menu is pretty good. You might not want to push the boat out on a whole dressed lobster - £40, but the scallop and bacon baguette at £8.50 is tasty and generously-filled. They also do roasts on a Sunday. Nice cake selection as well if that’s all you want.
There was plenty of room when I visited on a sunny Thursday in March, but it does get busy at times, so claim your place early at weekends – they do not take bookings. One other biker there when I arrived but he soon left, otherwise a mixed range of customers.
They have a butcher/fishmonger at the rear of the café, so you can also pick up something for supper if you like!
