The Ocean View Café, Pevensey Bay
The Ocean view is a combined café and bakery, located close to the Sea Road car park and serving a traditional range of sandwiches and rolls to eat in or take away, as well as good value cooked lunches. Tea is a bargain £1.30, though prices may have changed since I visited last year.Despite the nearby Honda dealership it’s by no means a biker hangout. The clientele when I have visited comprises workers and younger people popping in for a take away and a ‘mature’ set enjoying their two course lunch for £7.90. Nonetheless service is quick and friendly.
The café’s best feature is a slightly ramshackle garden accessed by a gate leading from the public car park; ideal to cool down in if hot and sweaty after a ride. Only a pedant would object that nearby body of water is the English Channel rather than an ocean!
