    LAM Forum

    It’s yours! …… not a "club"…… for just a few people!

“It's  a  shame  we  don't  seem  to  get  responses  from  associates  or  members  that  may read these and have their own views or thoughts” - Graham Jackson

    LAM Forum

Graham Jackson’s words in a post on the subject “Train to Test....or Train to Ride?” on the LAM Forum under Riding Help are spot-on. The problem is, there's only a few that keep the Forum alive, as the majority read but don’t post, or don’t log-in at all. So don’t blame the few! The LAM blog was put to sleep as it was unloved, you wouldn’t wish the Forum to close… would you?

Hello you! Yes, YOU, the LAM member or associate who is reading this message and others, but not posting!

    HELLO AND WELCOME!!

This forum is for you, set up by your Committee to give a place where all LAM members and associates can log-in and chat and comment and ask questions about advanced riding, talk about biking in general or suggest things that LAM can do for social events or rideouts or to make things better for bikers or encourage others to join LAM and take advantage of advanced training!

But these things don't happen on their own! The Committee may sit around a huge table chatting away but behind us them there is You. You, with lots of interesting ideas, comments and observations to make.

Come on, write a post! Say something! We won't laugh. We won't have a go at you - well, not nastily. We want to hear what You have to say.

So please do join in. The forum needs Your input. The forum is sitting there begging for your comments, your stories of your biking career and your path through advanced training, your anecdotes and scurrilous tales. It's not hard, we won't bite - unless you like that sort of thing and there are other forums for that sort of thing anyway!

There's the introduce yourself topic where, as it suggests, you can just say Hello and let us know a bit about yourself which I am very pleased to see is regularly being used. There are threads on advanced riding so why not say something in one of those, whether a full member or an associate, or ask that question about you have never been sure what you should do in this situation.

Know a great route to ride or after some suggestions on where to go for your next trip?

As regular forum users know more than a few of us "regulars" post what we consider invigo- rating topics in order to get discussion going.

The forum is not a club for a few regular individuals to contribute, it is open for every paid- up member and associate to log-in and post on. We do understand that many of you are worried about posting as you may feel You don’t have anything to say and are concerned that ‘regulars’ might try and ‘shoot you down’. Let me assure you that’s never going to happen. The LAM forum is private and the users are unlike most other forum users. They are exactly the same people you'll meet at Banstead and Tatsfield, the same people you’ll ride with on AORs and SSRs, the same people you'll meet at club nights. There is no anonymity. We can learn from every post and you’ll be doing your bit to keep LAM a vibrant, friendly, healthy and challenging club. One only has to see the increase in membership in the year 2017/18 and the massive percentage increase in tests taken and passed by associates and observers to see how active we are.

The LAM forum is the place to discuss, moan, groan, praise, ask about LAM stuff, even IAM stuff, riding and bike stuff.

Personally I would also dearly love to hear from more of the observers. I know your time is precious and you already put a ton of your own time into the club, but the knowledge in your heads is so valuable. Please share it - you can't put a value on your locked-up wealth of knowledge.
