I’d like to introduce myself to all Members, Associates and Observers as the new editor of Progress magazine, taking over from Andrew Hill who’s done a sterling job over the last two years.
I realise that an on-line only format is not to everyone’s taste but the costs of producing and posting out a hard copy have made this option no longer viable. Just about all motorcycle clubs have taken a similar decision.
Nonetheless, I will aim to ensure that Progress is an indispensable read for everyone who’s involved with LAM. The focus of course will remain on LAM’s core objective of safe and skilful motorcycling but I will hope to include some items of wider interest so that we have a lively and entertaining as well as an informative read every month. As we won’t be able to meet in person for the time being the club magazine is more important than ever.
New for this issue is a Meet the Associate feature and I would particularly like to encourage contributions from all areas of LAM. You don’t have to be any expert to have something to say – I’m certainly not, but many of us have got something interesting to share. Perhaps we could hear about your last ride before lockdown, the worst bike you’ve ever had or what’s been the most important technical advance in recent years? Are you in a ‘one make’ club or other interest group – what’s it like?
Do you have ideas for an item but not sure about putting them into print? No problem, I’ll be happy to work with anyone who has a rough outline to work it up into an article. Any areas or issues readers would like to see featured. Please let me know.
