It takes more than a global pandemic to stop LAMkins enjoying two wheel freedom. Sunday 5th April saw Claire Van Den Bosch organise a virtual ride in via Zoom up the legendary Pike’s Peak, Colorado, which was enjoyed by 23 members and associates.

Like all the best rides, this one started with a friendly chat amongst the gathering, some enjoying the obligatory bacon sarnie and cuppa. Participants joined from a range of locations including kitchens, living rooms, gardens and garages. After the pre-ride briefing, participants saddled up on to chairs, sofas or their actual machines (remembering to do POWDERS of course), and everybody remaining compliant with the “full tank, empty bladder” rule.

Through the wonders of modern technology that are Zoom and You Tube, participants enjoyed a ride with former AMA Superbike racer Chris Fillmore astride his KTM 790 as he undertook the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb challenge, also known as the “Race to the Clouds”. The ride consisted of 12.42 miles and 156 corners of high altitude sheer drops and stunning scenery. Arguably not all of the ride entirely conformed to the System or the advanced riding manual.

Participant’s wishing to relive the ride, or those unable to attend on the day, can enjoy the ride below
