Bee Careful!

On hotter days it can be tempting to ride with your visor up. However, particularly in rural areas there’s a lot of insect life about, and an open visor can hoover them up! A small fly crawling around your ear may be merely distracting; a wasp, bee or hornet can give you a painful sting which may lead to loss of control. Areas with hedges and anywhere near water or where there are a lot of farm animals will be particularly insect-rich environments. Please be aware of this.

London ULEZ

From October this year the London Ultra Low Emission Zone is being extended up to - but not including – the North and South Circular roads. This means that all vehicles, including motorcycles must have an engine which is Euro 3 or above; or otherwise incur a daily charge of £12.50. There are exemptions for ‘historic’ vehicles of forty or more years old which are exempt from road tax. For full details including exemptions see the TfL website.
